ROMANS—The LETTER

Romans Thumb

The last 27 books of the Bible are called the New Testament. 21 of those books are called Epistles or letters. They were written for the instruction of believers in Jesus, the Christ.

Romans is sometimes called, “the constitution of our Faith”. And, indeed, it is! It tells of the need (of every living soul) for salvation, the way of salvation (for those who see the need), the life of salvation (for those who take the way), the sovereignty of salvation (for those who mistakenly believe salvation is not entirely of God), and the service of salvation (for those who walk as believers).

Romans tells us how to give the gospel—any gospel that does not include the doctrine in Romans is deficient. And since the power of God for salvation is in the gospel, (there is no true salvation apart from the true gospel) we would do well to deliver the doctrine of faith, in its undiluted form, as registered for us in Romans.
